a few years ago a close friend introduced me to the uk hip-hop scene. and, looking back at it, as a genre i would never have taken the time to consider (or discern over), i am so glad that i have. and, it is a genre which has genuinely touched me. the people i have been with over the time have made it that much better, but the music really is brilliant.

3 lovely songs i hadn't ever heard

i was reading eatskeet's blog yesterday and i came across a few songs in his top ten of 2007 which i hadn't heard, all 3 nice slow vocals- lykke li my favourite, really individual voice kind of a mix between m.i.a and lilly allen...but not so much, just herself..

MP3:
lykke li - little bit (web)
bat for lashes - prescilla (web)
sam sparro - black and gold (web)

these guys are seriously different. and i like that. "suite 9" is a melodic very layered synth piece reallllllly effective and nice.. "don't go" is the catchiest thing since D.A.N.C.E...maye not actually. but it is good.
