hullo: the spring collective

i've noticed, in old books (as in 1920s sorta thing not actually old-just old for me) that people greet each other saying 'hullo' as opposed to our clever modern 'hello'. curious, no?

not really.

so i havent done much postting last few weeks, BUTTTTTTT i have been to barcelona which was pretty amazing and i will try and make up with a big lot of special songs to put a spring in your step.

for christmas i was given will ferrels first movie, night at the roxbury, on dvd and it is fully amazing. it is about night clubs amongst other things, very very 90's pop glittry glam, the invention of the super woofer boom box, that sort of thing. watch it to the end.

dans la fume

the 'golden' age of french music was born in the 1920s, the age of art deco and the height of french romanticism. mistinguett's 'je cherche un millionaire', toulouse-lautrec's 'la goulue' and paris' 'tour eiffel', had become symbols of the freedom of europe, a freedom embodied by the new music it brought to life. through both world wars and into the 1950s the sound of the likes of jacques brel, georges brassens, charles trenet and lucienne boyer carried on playing. now it needs to be reheard and relived, because it is special stuff, it will take you back to the days of 'lady and the tramp', lucky you.

unknown - paris, c'est vrai
jacques brel - comme toujours
georges brassens - le petit cheval blanc
jacques brel - ne me quitte pas

quaristice is out and it is seriously good. autechre are officiaally untouchable. physical warp release on march 3rd and download now available to purchase via bleep. so go on and get it. it is a serious adventure of an album, through lots of areas but does so well as a whole. two tracks by no means the best since theyr all brilliant.

drip drip zoooom. that is how the midnight fuck remix of run into flowers sounds. like the picture above. late motorway sound, autobahn melody. tur i maskinparken (roughly translating to: tour of the engine park-- strange norwegian) feels a little like flying through a clumsy fantasy world full of furry pink and blue animals and ice creams made of rainbows (think wax stag's short road) boys noize's remix of depeche modes claaaassic is squish slippery. then diplo and metronomy give some fun jump spin twirl roll bounce happiness to anybody with a big enough heart. that was generous. right on.

m83 - run into flowers (midnight fuck remix by jackson)
bjørn torske - tur i maskinparken
depeche mode - personal jesus (boys noize rework)
diplo - must be a devil
metronomy - radio ladio

gleit/zeit

raf by raf simons, high tops with striped tongue are so perfect. his collection is so well suited and timed,i love it. look out for his parachute jacket as well, very nice.
undo/redo, a collaboration between german producers matthias klein and michael schwanen, under areal records (see. konfekt and metope), released this 4 track 12" at the end of 2003 and its definitely still the most exciting techno ep i've heard.
