a few years ago a close friend introduced me to the uk hip-hop scene. and, looking back at it, as a genre i would never have taken the time to consider (or discern over), i am so glad that i have. and, it is a genre which has genuinely touched me. the people i have been with over the time have made it that much better, but the music really is brilliant.
yesterday, i came across this magazine "wonderland" in that trusty retailer, w.h. smith.

i was reading eatskeet's blog yesterday and i came across a few songs in his top ten of 2007 which i hadn't heard, all 3 nice slow vocals- lykke li my favourite, really individual voice kind of a mix between m.i.a and lilly allen...but not so much, just herself..
british born 'wax stag', has found recent success from the emergence of his lullaby-esc debut, 'short road'. the song was featured by hot chip on their dj kicks mix and widely considered to be the best on it. their video, directed by o w l s, is the perfect accompaniment to this french style electro-pop. have a listen its fun.
hot chip's new single (and video) 'ready for the floor', from their forthcoming second album, 'made in the dark', is very, very good.
